To all our sacramental families,
Prior to the celebration of the sacraments of confirmation and first communion, a final session has been organized. Christine Taylor, the Director of Evangelization and Catechesis from the Diocesan Pastoral Office will lead a mini retreat, which will provide a final preparation session.
DATE and TIMES
Fr. Nick and I have spoken, and we would like to have a final session with the parents and children on Wednesday, August 12.
Two time are being offered for our final session due to the COVID-19 guidelines of not gathering more than 30 people at an indoor event.
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. or 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Thirty includes the facilitators. So, we cannot have more than 28 parent and children in attendance at either session. If you are one of the families who is able to attend during the day, I encourage you to do so as there are some families who will only be able to attend in the evening due to their work schedule.
The final session is a family event, at least one parent and child need to attend. If the numbers divide as well as we are hoping it may be possible for both parents to attend with their child. If both parents wish to attend, please indicate this when you register, and we will let you know if the numbers based on the COVID-19 guidelines will permit the second parent to be present.
Please send me the time that you are available to attend and who from your family will be attending, remember that both parents are welcome and that we will let you know if numbers allow for both parents to attend.
COVID-19 PROTOCOL AT THE SESSION
Social distancing will be maintained as we gather in the hall and in the Church proper.
If your arrival occurs at the same time as another family, please allow one family to enter the hall at a time and find their seat before entering…social distancing as we do at our stores now
In the hall, each family unit will sit at their own table, which will be separated from the next table following social distancing guidelines.
Family units will sit together in designated pews in the Church separated according to guidelines from other family units for the rehearsal.
No drinks or food will be served. During the time we are gathered in the hall, if you would like a water or something else to drink please bring it with you. The washrooms will be available.
PREPARATION FOR THE FINAL SESSION
To prepare for the final session, it would be helpful if parents spoke with their child(ren) about the sacraments of confirmation and first communion using the workbooks. If you have not already done so, please complete the final sessions.
TO BRING WITH YOU TO THE FINAL SESSION
During the final sessions, there will be learning, crafts and some treats😊. In order to minimize contact with the craft tools please bring for your own use: scissors, glue, markers (or crayons or pencil crayons), pencil, and pen.
If you wish to have something to drink during the sessions, please remember to bring your own water or coffee. No food or beverages will be served.
There will be 2 confirmations – Aug 13 at 5:00 pm and Aug 21, 2020 at 5:00 pm
Guests will be restricted to immediate family and your child’s sponsor.
Bring your child’s baptismal candle, if you do not have one contact the parish office
Dress attire – traditional dress attire for is boys in dress shirts and pants, and girls in white or light coloured dresses.
We realize that this is not what you had envisioned for your child’s confirmation; it is not what we had envisioned. However, we are doing the best we can to accommodate all parties in this time of COVID 19.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call Fr. Nick or myself.
Please continue to pray for your child, and please continue to pray that God will guide us through these interesting times.
